![]() ![]() The remainder was winding 2-lane mountain roads with a ton of elevation changes ranging from 400ft. During the past 600 miles the truck has seen maybe 100 miles of Freeway driving, about 50 miles of in-city driving with a bit of stop and go traffic, and several stop and starts picking up materials and supplies for the job. I have put almost 600 miles on the truck this week on the B20 and the truck is running noticeably smoother and a fair bit quieter. Plus the performance tune has tremendous potential once the clutch issue is resolved. If you told me that I'd get 17 horsepower over stock for $700, I wouldn't be really excited, but the new found torque and the exhaust braking is worth every penny. So I have to settle with less power or replace the clutch.Īnyhow, I hope this (long post) is somewhat useful for anyone trying to decide on tuning their truck. ![]() Either it's gotten to the disc, or the clutch just can't hang. ![]() I've had light seepage from the belhousing for the past 45,000 of the trucks 52,000 miles. Unfortunately, the stock clutch slips at this power level. It's awesome to drive, great power, smooth delivery, smokes a bit, but not terrible. opcorn:Īt 1500rpm it gained 043 torque and 013 rwhp :sly:Īt 2000rpm it gained 230 torque and 088 rwhp :sly:Īt 2500rpm it gained 260 torque and 124 rwhp :evil:Īt 3000rpm it gained 230 torque and 103 rwhp :sly:Īt 3500rpm it gained 190 torque and 126 rwhp :sly: Again, 90hp and 246 torque gain on the peaks is not the whole story. The truck made 373 rwhp and 721 torque peak. While I was on the dyno, we tried a more aggressive performance tune too. Also, there is absolutely ZERO SMOKE, which actually makes me very happy. On a related note, I noticed that with this tune it doesn't make but 20psi wide open, but then again, the EGTs never go over 1200-1250 either. It actually makes a little boost (5-8psi) in the process, so getting back into the throttle, the turbo is already spooled. The truck also has an exhaust brake scenerio now where it closes off the variable turbo to create backpressure going down hill. opcorn:Īt 1500rpm it gained 000 torque and 000 rwhp = stockĪt 2000rpm it gained 060 torque and 023 rwhp :Thumbup:Īt 2500rpm it gained 120 torque and 057 rwhp :Thumbup:Īt 3000rpm it gained 048 torque and 027 rwhp :Thumbup:Īt 3500rpm it gained 083 torque and 055 rwhp  17hp and 104 torque gain on the peaks is not the whole story. With the custom tow tune it made 300 rwhp and 579 torque peak. Also, I run Power Service Diesel Kleen (silver bottle) every tank, but I have no idea if that's worth any power or not. I do run Full synthetic throughout, and that's usually good for a little free power too. These numbers seem to be on par with other 6-speed trucks with the same mods from what I can tell. With the stock tune, stock air intake with Zoodad Mod, 3.5" DP, stock catalyst opened up to 4" and straight pipe dumping behind the axle, it made 475 torque 3075 rpm and 283 rwhp 3205 rpm.Īt 1500rpm it made 234 torque and 067 rwhpĪt 2000rpm it made 366 torque and 139 rwhpĪt 2500rpm it made 459 torque and 218 rwhpĪt 3000rpm it made 470 torque and 269 rwhpĪt 3500rpm it made 347 torque and 231 rwhp I just haven't had time to post up the results, so here they are: So I put my truck on the dyno a few weeks back for some custom SCT tuning.
